A game developed in 2 days during the Story Makers game jam. Together with two other colleagues from work - Vassilis Simeonidis and Giorgos Varaboutis - we created a game focusing on narrative and storytelling which was the theme of the game jam. We used the Unity engine for the development and Photoshop, Illustrator and Audacity for the assets. Due to time constraints, we also used ready made sound effects and art assets for the environment after doing some editing.
We had an amazing weekend with great workshops, valuable feedback from experts and interesting conversations with other teams and professionals.
The player controls a character that after dying has been turned to a shapeless creature (a blob) and it's on its final journey to the afterlife. On this journey it must overcome any obstacles and figure out its way to the end. There are two ways to do that. It can either use its own strength and abilities to move on or possess other creatures and use them to easily go on ahead. Possessing another creature will result in killing it when the character leaves the body.
In the end, if the player chose to manipulate (and inevitably kill) other creatures he is told by a higher spirit that he is not worthy to move on and is turned into a creature like the ones he has been using. Otherwise, he turns into a spirit and goes on to the afterlife.
**end of spoilers**
Arrows : move the blob
Z (next to another creature) : possess another creature or leave its body if it's already possessed
Space: Jump (or use creature's ability)
Esc: open game menu (resume/quit)
Here is a walkthrough of the demo with both endings.
